Can’t seem to delete or move the first city listed. Suggestions?

    • Hi Steve,

      Which version of iOS are you running? Suggest trying the below;

      1. Hold down the city for about 3 to 4 seconds and drag it to another slot in the list, then try and delete.
      2. Make sure you have the latest version of iOS 7 (7.03), which has a many bug fixes.
      3. Power cycle the phone and see if the steps described in the blog work for you.
      4. If all else fails, backup your device using iTunes and try restoring it to factory default using iTunes, then retry the steps described in the blogs.

Let me know how things work out.

  3. Thank you for the help on this.

  4. Can’t delete the first one because it’s your location !

  5. I’m just guessing here, but could it be that the first city on the list is automatically generated because the weather app is using your location services and that’s why you can’t delete it? I switched off the weather in location services under privacy and it took the first city out of my list. But thanks Vijay for how to take the other cities out, i was going around in circles trying to do that!

  6. Skip step 2–don’t select the city–that takes you back to screen shot 1. Just swipe left on the city name.

  7. Just figured it out. My problem was, I’d hold the city down until it popped out of the list and then tried to delete it. You have to just swipe to the left without holding it down.

  8. Thanks Vijay, able to delete unwanted city.

  9. Pia Bradshaw says:

    Thanks.

  10. There is only one way to delete the first location located with your IPhone, which by the way may not be your home location, is to go to settings + privacy + location services and turn OFF next to weather. That will eliminate your first unwanted city.

  11. I tried this a number of times and it didn’t work. Why?

  12. Thanks for that. Thanks also to Apple for making it so obscure in the first place.

  13. Thank you for this! Like everyone else, I was just going around & around and getting frustrated. This was a big help to me!

  14. A thousand thank you’s for the instruction on how to delete an iphone weather app city!

  15. I’m having difficulty getting back to screenshot 1. I accidentally fumbled my phone, and when I caught it I ended up on the manage cities page here, and I can’t get back. I’m sure it’s obvious, but I can’t pull it off.

    • Try pressing the Home button to go back to the home page, then relaunch the App. If you end up on screenshot 2, then just select the desired city to get back to screenshot 1.
